Synergy H1 Hybrid Multi-Mode Microplate Reader
This product demo describes the use of Synergy H1 Hybrid Multi-Mode Microplate Reader.
Today’s researchers expect multi-mode microplate readers to cover the broadest possible range of applications, while being sensitive and easy to use. This video presents BioTek’s Synergy H1, and how it’s unique hybrid optical system addresses these key requirements.
Synergy H1 is a multifunctional microplate reader designed to accommodate any plate type from 6- to 384-well densities (show plates - 6, 96, 384, transparent, white, black), using a variety of detection modes. Two optical systems are available: monochromator- and filter-based optical modules.
The monochromator-based module supports UV-visible absorbance, top and bottom fluorescence and luminescence (show list of modes as text on screen). Any wavelength from the low UV to the near infrared can be selected through the software (show Gen5 with WL being entered), making this system extremely flexible and easy to use for a wide range of assays. Unknown samples can be scanned to establish excitation or emission maxima (show Gen5 screen with spectra being acquired).
The filter system is available as a separate module and can be added as an upgrade. This module supports advanced read modes such as Fluorescence Polarization, Time-Resolved Fluorescence and TR-FRET (show list of modes as text on screen) and turns the Synergy H1 into an advanced Hybrid microplate reader. The filter optics come with easy-to-use filter cubes (show cube picture). Each filter cube contains all the required filters and mirrors to detect specific fluorophores. The cubes are positioned using magnets and can be swapped in a matter of seconds to easily switch from one detection mode to the next (show scientist swapping cubes).
This unique, patent pending combination of monochromator- and filter-based optical systems covers a very broad range of applications, in a compact, cost-effective instrument. Monochromators provide ease of use and flexibility, while the optional filter module greatly expands the application range of the instrument.
Synergy H1 comes with a built-in temperature control system to 45 degrees Celsius (show Gen5 incubation step being programmed) as well as a plate shaking mechanism. An optional reagent injection module is available (show injector module). This module is used to automate inject and read assays such as flash luminescent luciferase or fluorescent ion channel assays.
In addition, Synergy H1 is compatible with BioTek’s unique Take3 plate (show Take3 plate); The Take3 plate has a simple but innovative design for measuring multiple 2 µL samples, which is particularly useful for direct nucleic acid and protein quantification. (Show Take3 plate being prepared and loaded on H1). Using the Gen5 software, the results are calculated automatically and displayed in an Excel sheet.
As you can see, Synergy H1 has been designed to combine ease-of-use and versatility in one compact bench top instrument. Its unique, patent-pending Hybrid optical system will give your laboratory the flexibility it needs, as well as the ability to upgrade to more advanced detection modes as your requirements expand.
